Weymouth to sponsor WFC Ladies - 27 April 2008 |
HotSpring of Weymouth are delighted to announce that we will be sponsoring the Weymouth FC Ladies team. Tim Davis, Coach for the squad, tells us more: "Weymouth FC Ladies are the reigning Dorset Womens League champions having won the title last season when they remained unbeaten. Player Manager Amy Cook and Coach Tim Davis took on the ailing team at the start of last season and transformed the club both on and off the pitch. The policy from day one was to put the faith in the younger players and indeed this is borne out by the fact 16 of the 18 in the current squad are teenagers. This policy will continue and the club has a vibrant youth policy in place to provide a conveyor belt of talent for years to come. Already four players of the successful under 15 team from this season will be stepping up in September. Weymouth FC Ladies won this seasons Dorset County Cup by defeating a team two divisions above them in the final. They are also fighting to retain their Dorset Womens League championship and it will go down to a final day decider with rivals Purbeck. For season 2008/09 the team will hopefully be accepting promotion into the South West Womens Football League where they will be playing top quality teams such as Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle. The team possesses several County players including goalkeeper Fliss Carroll, defender Naomi Dixon, midfielder Kim Cheffey and striker Rosie Sharpe. We will soon be in a position to announce Hot Spring of Weymouth as our new home kit sponsors for the next two seasons and look forward to a long and fruitful partnership which will see continued success on and off the pitch for both parties". We wish the squad every success for the coming season. For more details see their website at www.wfcladies.co.uk. |
